x-3 is a factor .... Therefore, x-3=0

x=3

f(x)= x^3 + x^2-17x+15

f(3)=3^3+3^2-17(3) +15 ( by factor

theorem

=27+9-51+15

=36-51+15

=51-51

=0

Hence proved , since remainder is 0
