Rural:

a. Ask your Grandparents and parents about the number of cattle owned by them( if they resided in the rural area) or you may collect generic information.

b. Collect information about the trees and ponds in a particular village that existed around 40 years back.

c. You will notice that things are changing today, number of cattle has been reduced, even trees in the villages are being cut to pave way for the agricultural land.

d. Further ponds are disappearing because of changes in climatic conditions, water scarcity etc.

Urban:

a. Likewise you may seek information about changes that have taken place in the urban areas

b. There are more cars today than those existed at the time of your Grandparents. Further you may see more buildings, flyovers, metalled roads etc , this is the sign of urbanisation.

c. Trees are being cut in the city to build infrastructure to meet the growing need of increasing population.

d. Number of parks , playgrounds have also been reduced , because more land is needed to accommodate urban population.

Thus, you may witness changes in the land use pattern, net sown area has been increased, forest cover has been reduced etc.
