3 tables and 5 chairs together cost Rs. 3555,while 7 tables and 4 chairs together cost Rs.5788. Find the cost of a table and that of a chair.

let num of tables=x and chairs=y
given that  3x+5y=3555
                  7x+4y=5788
then mul 1st eqn by 4 and 2nd eqn by 5 then
12x+20y=14220  --------(1)
35x+20y=28490  --------(2)
now, (2)-(1) then
x=640 and y=327
i.e tables=640 & chairs=327
