Square both sides in (√3 tan theta = 3sin theta ) . You will get cos^2 theta =1/3. Then you can find sin^2 theta = 2/3 , and hence sin^2 theta - cos^2 theta = 1/3. Check out the solution for better understanding. Happy to help
