Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

The dimensions of a rectangular park is

100 m x 60 m. A 2 m width path made

around the rectangular park.

To find:-

Find the area of the Path?

Solution:-

Given that ;

Length of the rectangular park = (l)=100 m

Breadth of the rectangular park =(b)=60 m

We know that

Area of a rectangle = lb sq.units

Area of the given rectangular park

= 100×60 sq.m

= 6000 sq.m

Width of the path which is around outside of the park = (w)=2 m

Length of the new rectangular shape = l+2w units

=> 100+2(2) m

=> 100+4 m

=> 104 m

Breadth of the new rectangular shape = b+2w units

=> 60+2(2) m

=> 60+4 m

=> 64 m

Area of the new rectangular shape =

= 104 × 64 sq.m

= 6656 sq.m

Area of the path = Area of the new rectangular shape - Area of the original rectangular park

=> 6656sq.m-6000 sq.m

=> 656 sq.m

Area of the path = 656 sq.m

Shortcut:-

l = 100 m

b = 60 m

w = 2 m

It is around outside

Area of the path = (l+b+2w)2w sq.units

=>[ (100+60+2(2)]2(2) sq.m

=> (160+4)(4) sq.m

=> (164)(4) sq.m

=> 656 sq.m

Answer:-

Area of the path for the given problem is

656 sq.m

Used formulae:-

  • Area of the rectangle = lb sq.units

  • Area of the path = (l+b+2w)2w sq.units

  • l=length

  • b=breadth

  • w=width of the path
