3. The distance of the Moon from the earth is about 60 times the radius of the earth. What
will be the diameter of the earth (approximately in degrees) as seen from the Moon?

As given in the problem, the distance from the moon and the earth is 60 radius.

For example assume, that the angle to be θ, now

tan θ = R/d

       = R/60R

                       =1/60

      =0.016 θ

= tan−1(0.016)

θ = 0.90

Therefore, for calculating the diameter, the angle becomes 2 times of θ therefore

2 θ = 2x 0.90 = 1.80

 Thus, 1.8 degree is the approx value for diameter of earth.
