2.5 m = 250 cm 250 cm + 25 cm = 275 cm 275 cm = 2.75 cm A. Area = side x side                                                                                             = 2.75 × 2.75 = 7.5625 m.sq

Answer:

1. Area of enlarged bed is 7.5625 m²

2. Increased area is 1.3125 m²

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

The original side of the square flower bed = 2.5 m,

After digging a strip 25 cm wide all around it,

The side of the resultant square = 2.5 meter + 0.25 m = 2.75 meters  ( ∵ 1 meter = 100 cm ⇒ 1 cm = 0.01 m ),

Since, area of a square = side²,

1. Thus, the area of the resultant square = 2.75² = 7.5625 square meter,

2. The increased area of the flower bed = new area - original area

= 7.5625 - 2.5²

= 7.5625 - 6.25

= 1.3125 square meter
