There are both positive and negative aspects of this question....

Sometimes people in emergency or even consulted by a not so good doctor must have a knowledge about medicines or use internet to assure it.Once i got cholecalciferol 60000 IU by a doctor, the doctor told it as a calcium tablet and told it to have a tablet everyday.I searched it over the internet and finally found it to be a tablet of vitamin D and a very high dose, which should be taken once a week. However I didn't got any sideffects of using it as it was just a suppliment.

However you should not use any medicine without knowing about it cause they could be fatal.......

Answer:

no,

it is never good to self medicate. There are a lot of dangers involved. Self medication can make a person feel paranoid. Secondly, self medication is almost equal to self harm. Without doctor's prescription, if we buy and take medication it can lead severe health hazards.
