3. The sum of a number of 2 digits and of the number formed by reversing the digits is 110, and the difference
of the digits is 6. Find the number.

Answer:

Let the digit on ones place be y and tens place be x.

Number formed= 10x + y

A.T.Q.

x - y = 6 ( if x > y ) ...(i)

y - x = 6 ( if y > x ) ...(iii)

~(10x + y) + (10y + x) = 110

~ 11x +11y = 110

~ x + y = 10 ...(ii)

By (i) and (ii)

x = 8 and y = 2

Number formed if x>y = 83

Number formed if y>x = 38
