(3) The sum of father's age and twice the age of his son is 55. If we double the ageof the father and add it to the age of his son the sum is 80. Find their present age​

and Sons present age be y

Given

x + 2y = 55 \\ x = 55 - 2y

also,

2x + y = 80 \\ 2(55 - 2y) + y = 80 \\ 110 - 4y + y = 80 \\ 110 - 3y = 80 \\  - 3y =  - 30 \\ y = 10

Sons age is 10 yrs

hence fathers age is

x = 55 - 20 = 35

fathers age is 35 years
