Let the numerator be X and denominator be Y .

According to 1 st condition ,

X + Y = 12

According to 2nd condition ,

(X + 1) / (Y + 1) = 3/4

4X + 4 = 3Y + 3

4X = 3Y - 1

X = (3Y - 1) /4

Putting the value of X in 1st condition, we get

(3Y - 1) /4 + Y = 12

3Y - 1 + 4Y = 48

7Y = 48 + 1

7Y = 49

Y = 7

NOW putting the Y = 7 in 1st conditon we get,

X + 7 = 12

X = 5

Therefore fraction is 5/7
