Union list -

  • It has 97 subjects
  • Subject importance for whole nation
  • Union govenrmet alone can make laws
  • ex - Banking ,Defence

Concurrent list -

  • It has 47 subjects
  • Subjects of common interest of whole nation
  • Both state and central government can make laws
  • It their laws conflict with each other law made by central government will prevail.
  • ex - Education, Forest

Note - There is another list called Residuary list in which subject which are newly invented are included.
