3. There are 180 multiple choice questions in a test. A candidate gets 4 marks for every
scorrect answer, and for every un-attempted or wrongly answered questions one mark is

Maximum marks = 180×4

= 720

total marks deducted = 720-450 = 270

for every wrong or unattempted answer 4+1 i.e. 5 marks

are deducted

Number of unattempted or wrong answers = 270/5

= 54

Number of correct answers = 180-54

= 126

Let the no. of correct ans be X

450=4x + x - 180

450=5x - 180

450+180=5x

630=5x

630/5=x

126=x

he attempted 126 correctly.
