3. Three coins are tossed simultaneously 100 times with the following frequencies of
different outcomes:
Outcome:
No head One head Two heads Three heads
Frequency:
14
38
36
12
If the three coins are simultaneously tossed again, compute the probability of:
(i) 2 heads coming up.
(ii) 3 heads coming up.
(ii) at least one head coming up. (iv) getting more heads than tails.

1) ' 2 heads ' outcome = 36

Total number of outcomes = 100

So, P [ 2 heads ] = 36 / 100

= 0.36

2) ' 3 heads ' outcome = 12

Total number of outcomes = 100

So, P [ 3 heads ] = 12 / 100

= 0.12

3) ' 1 or +1 heads ' outcome = 14 + 38 + 36 + 12

= 100

Total number of outcomes = 100

So, P [ 1 or +1 heads ] = 100 / 100

= 1

4) ' heads > tail ' outcome = 12

Total number of outcomes = 100

So, P [ head > tail ] = 12 / 100

= 0.12

5) ' heads < tail ' outcome = 14 + 38

= 52

Total number of outcomes = 100

So, P [ head < tail ] = 52 / 100

= 0.52
