Let the speed of X be a km/hr and the speed of y is (a + 10) km/hr.

As we know,

Time × speed = Distance

According to the question

⇒ (11/2) (2a + 10) = 396

⇒ 2a + 10 = 396 × (2/11) = 72

⇒ 2a = 72 – 10 = 62

⇒ a = 62/2 = 31

∴ Speed of y = 31 + 10 = 41 km/hr
