volume of the tank = 12 cu m = 12×1000

= 12000 litres

volume of water flowing through the pipe per second is,

cross sectional area in sq m × speed in m/sec

=> 0.5 × 2 = 1 cu m/sec or 1000litres / sec

therefore time taken

= vol of tank / vol of water flowing per sec

=> 12000 ÷ 1000

=> 12 seconds
