Explanation:

Mass is a measure of how much force it will take to change that path. Mass depends on how much matter – atoms and so on – there is in an object; more mass means more inertia, as there is more to get moving. ... Weight, on the other hand, is a measure of the amount of downwards force that gravity exerts on an object

Mass:

      It is one of the fundamental quantities in Physics and the most basic property of matter. We defined mass the measure the amount of weight in a body. The SI unit of mass is kilogram(Kg). Mass has a magnitude and therefore its a scalar quantity.

    The total mass of the system is assumed  to be constant. This means that the mass remains unaffected by the gravitational forces, the objects or person.

Weight:

     It is the measure of the force of gravity acting on the body. The formula for weight is given by:

                                    w=mg

      It is defined as the forces that acts at all times on the objects near to the earth's surface. In the field of science and engineering, the weight of an object is related to the force acting on the object, either due to gravity or due to a reaction forces that holds it in a place. The SI unit of weight is Newton.

  • The mass of an object is a measure of the object's inertial property, or the amount of matter it contains.
  • The weight of an object is a measure of the force exerted on the object by gravity, or the force needed to support it.
