Answer:
- The New moon day is the day when the moon comes in between the Sun and the earth, Hence the moon is invisible from the earth. Because the sun rays falls towards the earth is fully blocked by the moon. Thus the face of the moon towards the sun is only lighted. This phenomenon is also called Lunar eclipse.
- As it passes the full Moon stage, the amount of illumination decreases — or wanes — from right to left. Finally, the Moon returns to its position between the Earth and the Sun, and on Earth we observe the new Moon again.
