Arteries usually carries oxygenated blood (blood with higher oxygen content) to all other parts of the body.

Aorta is the main artery which branches of from the lungs and carries oxygenated blood to all other parts of the body except lungs.

The artery going to the lungs is called pulmonary artery it carries deoxygenated blood (blood with lower oxygen content) to the lungs. Oxygen is added to the blood in the lungs not in heart, heart only pumps blood.

There for the major difference between aorta and pulmonary artery that the former carries oxygenated blood whereas the latter is the only artery which carries deoxygenated blood.

Hope it helps, if so please as brainliest.
