Correct Question:-

What is Oxidation reaction ? Is it exothermic or endothermic?Give one Example of oxidation reaction.

Answer:-

☛ Oxidation reaction is a chemical reaction in which an atom or ion loses one or more electrons.hence we also say it is de-electronation or oxidation.

  • Oxidation reaction will be either endothermic and exothermic.

Example :-

Neutral atoms of sodium(Na) ,Zinc( Zn),Copper (Cu) and Iron (Fe) lose 1,2,2 and 2 electrons and change into \sf\:{N}^{+},Z{n}^{++},C{u}^{++}\:and\:F{e}^{++}ion respectively. For Example

\bf\:Na\longrightarrow\:N{a}^{+}\:+\:{e}^{-}

\bf\:Zn\longrightarrow\:Z{n}^{++}\:+\:2{e}^{-}

\bf\:Cu\longrightarrow\:C{u}^{++}\:+\:2{e}^{-}

\bf\:Fe\longrightarrow\:F{e}^{++}\:+\:2{e}^{-}

In the same way Ferrous ions (Fe++) lose one electron to change into Ferric (Fe+++) and stannous ions (Sn++) lose two electrons to transfer into stannic (Sn++++) ions For example

\bf\:F{e}^{2+}\longrightarrow\:F{e}^{3+}\:+{e}^{-}

\bf\:S{n}^{2+}\longrightarrow\:S{n}^{4+}\:+2{e}^{-}
