3. What is the significance of the testes being
located in scrotal sacs outside the abdomen. Can
there be any abnormal situation regarding
their location? If so, what is that and what is the
harm caused due to it?
Answers
Answer:
spermatogenesis requires a temperature slightly lower than the normal body temperature. it is hence located outside the body. the scrotal sacs shrink and expand when it is cold and hot respectively.the sperm may not be healthy if the temperature is not appropriate.
Answer:
testes are responsible for production of male gametes. the Normal body temperature does not allow the maturation of the sperm. Being suspended out side the body cavity, the temperature in the scrotal sac is 2-3 °c which is suitable temperature for maturation of sperms, when it is too hot the skin of scrotam looses so that the testes hang down away from the body for warmth.
in a abnormal condition in the embryonic stage the testes do not descend into the scrotam. it can lead to sterility or incapability to produce sperms.
