Let the 1st number be 8x

Let the 2nd number be 11x

(8+x) + (11+x) = 4 / 5

cross multiplication:

5(8 + x) = 4(11+x)

40 + 5x = 44 + 4x

5x - 4x = 44 - 40

x = 4
