answer 3 = An uprising in several sepoy companies of the Bengal army was sparked by the issue of new gunpowder cartridges for the Enfield rifle in February 1857. Loading the Enfield often required tearing open the greased cartridge with one's teeth, and many sepoys believed that the cartridges were greased with cow and pig fat.

answer 4 = The main centres of revolt in these regions namely meerut, Delhi, Lucknow, kanpur, Jhansi, Gwalior, Barrackpore, Bareilly, and Arrah in Bihar. On 9th May, 85 soldiers in Meerut refused to use the new rifle and were sentenced to ten years' imprisonment. Soon there was a rebellion in the Meerut Cantonment.

answer 5 =The Indian Civil Services Act was passed during the Viceroyalty of Lord Canning in the year 1861. It provided the reservation of certain principal posts for the members of the covenanted services. Thus, the Principal posts were reserved for British.

Answer:

1. The immediate cause of the Revolt of 1857 was the Introduction of Enfield rifle, To load it, the sepoys had to bite off the ends of the cartridges, a rumour spread taht the cartridges were greased with a mixture of cow and pigs' lard (cows were considered holy by Hindus, while pigs were considered unclean by Muslims) and a rebellion was caused because the sepoys refused to use the rifles.

2. Major centres of revolt:

Lucknow

Delhi

Kanpur

Jhansi

3. In my opinion, the Indian Civil Service act was passed to associate more Indians in the act of Legislation so that the ruler could learn more about the opinions and sentiments of the Indian people
