3.the funnel should be removed from the mixture which is being heated at the time of the formation of the vapour.

Explanation:

  • this is because during formation of the vapour there is huge amount of heat generated which may hamper the funnel.
  • 4.Ammonium chloride is a sublimable substance. two other substances which can be separated by the same technique are naphthalene and camphor both of which are also sublimable in nature.
  • 5.the various techniques which are used in the experiment to separate the components of a mixture are sedimentation and decantation, magnetic separation, distillation and fractional distillation, centrifugation, electrolytic separation.

  • Sedimentation works on the principle that the two substances have different rate of settling down
  • in case of magnetic separation one of the substance is magnetic in nature.
  • In case of distillation and fractional distillation there is difference in the boiling point of the two substances.
  • In case of centrifugation there is a difference in the density of the substance.
  • Electrolytic separation take place when one of the the component is conductor of electricity whereas the other is not.
