When magnesium is added to sulphuric acid, hydrogen gas is evolved.
Mg + H2SO4 (dil.)--->MgSO4 + H2
Hydrogen is a combustible gas......Oxygen is also present in the air which is a supporter of combustion.......So, when this hydrogen-oxygen mixture is heated, it explodes......
