Answer:

A peripheral or peripheral device is the auxiliary device used to put information into and get information out of the computer. The term peripheral device refers to all hardware components that aretoo  attached to a computer and are also controlled by the computer system, but they are not the core components of computer, such as CPU or power supply unit. In other words, peripherals can be defined as devices that can be easily removed and plugged into the  computer system.

Several categories of peripheral devices may also be identified, based on their relationship with a computer:

An input device sends data or the instructions to computer, such as the mouse, keyboard, graphics tablet, image scanner, game controller, light pen, light gun, microphone and the webcam;

An output device provides output data from computer, such as the computer monitor, projector, printer, headphones and the computer speaker;

An input/output device performs both input and the output functions, such as a computer data storage device (including the disk drive, solid-state drive, USB flash drive, memory card and the tape drive), modem, network adapter and multi-function printer.

Many modern electronic devices, such as the Internet-enabled digital watches, keyboards, and tablet computers, have interfaces for the use as computer peripheral devices.
