First of all, there has to be a group of people who all have something in common. It is the most essential or fundamental element of each society. Bigger or smaller groups, it does not really matter, all it matters is that society is always related to a particular group of people.

Man is a social animal. He always lives in society. Like him some other creatures such as, ants, birds, monkeys, apes, etc., also live in society. Human society in comparison with other societies, is unique in several respects.,(1) Usages :

ADVERTISEMENTS:

Every society has some usages concerned with marriage, religion, education etc. These usages differ from society to society.

(2) Procedures :

In every society there are some procedures like modes of action which helps to maintain it’s unity.

(3) Authority:

Every society has some sort of authority. Every members of society has to obey this authority. Some sort of authority is necessary for the maintenance of order in society.

(4) Mutual Aid :

ADVERTISEMENTS:

In every society there exists a feeling of mutual aid among it’s members. Everyone need helps from others.

(5) Groupings and Divisions :

In every society there exist several groupings and divisions like family, village, city etc. which constitute a society.

(6) Controls:

Every society exercises some sort of controls over its members. Hence control is necessary for the smooth organisation of a society.

(7) Liberty:

Along with control every society gives some liberty to its members some sort of liberty or freedom is necessary for the organisation of society. But control and liberty is not opposite to each other.
