Answer :

\tt{\underline{\underline{\orange{a)\:  Water\ and\ iron\ fillings\ }}}}

Filteration : Filteration is a process of separating any heterogeneous mixture in which one component is liquid into pure components . The mixture of water and iron fillings is a heterogeneous mixture with water as a liquid .

A heterogeneous mixture is that in which two components do not get mixed thoroughly with each other .

The separation techniques for other mixtures are :

  • 1) Sugar and water : This can be separated by evaporation or distillation .

  • 2) Soil and salt : Mixture can be mixed with water and filtered , salt water will be left . Salt can be separated from water by evaporation.

  • 3) Water and glucose : Glucose is also soluble in water and can be separated as the same as sugar or salt i.e. through evaporation .
