One mole of a molecule has Avogadro's number of molecules so equals the atomic weight in grams.

The atomic weight of hydrogen molecule (H2) approximates 2 amu. So one gram of H2 is one half mole whic occupies 11.2 liters of volume at STP.

The atomic weight of nitrogen gas (N2) is about 28 amu so one gram of nitrogen occupies 1/28 mole or 0.8 liters (800 cc).
