Endemic species of plants and animals are restricted to a relatively small area such as an Island etc. they are at greater risk of becoming extinct as the species can't adapt themselves outside their habitat.
and.2 in simple words it's becoz if there is large number of population it means that the need of even common used resources is more leading to depletion of resources. this will exploit the resources and for the biodiversity it is affected as you can see in forest that if we cut trees then we are destroying the habitat of biodiversity living around there.
