When the cell gets damaged due to some reasons the lysosomes which contains digestive enzymes engulf it's own cell in it.

So lysosomes are known as suicide bags.

Answer:

Lysosomes are called suicidal bags of the cell because they contain hydrolytic enzymes which can digest incoming food materials, remove the foreign bodies, toxic molecules and debris. It also break down worn out cells and cell organelles to component molecules for building new organelles and cells.

Know more:

※ They are tiny, spherical structures and are evenly distributed in the cytoplasm.

※ They arise from Golgi complex.

※ They are membrane - bound vacuolar organelles responsible for the intra - cellular digestion in the eukaryotic cells.

※ Discovered : C. de Duve in 1949.
