Day to day geological agents deposits more and more sediments. After some time the compression of the sedimentary bed starts, due to sediments deposited after (or above) that bed. So, a layer of rock is formed, this process is repeats again and again and layers after layers of sediments is formed. After millions of year, sediments become solid and become rocks, are known as sedimentary rocks.
