Plastics are generally non-biodegradable. Hence, they may take centuries to decay. Plastic bags are very harmful to the environment because plastic doesn't decompose and is a big part of our landfill. So , it is advised not to use plastic bags or minimize the use of it .

We are advised to avoid plastics because

1. They are polluting our environment

2. They are killing animals like cows, buffaloes, etc.

3. They are choking the marine animals.

4. If plastics are burnt, they release poisonous fumes which can kill a man.

5. Plastics are non biodegradable, meaning that if we throw plastics in a compost pits, it doesn't get consumed by microbes, they exist for 400years or more.
