The narrator followed the pilot of the another aero plane because, it was dark and stormy and the narrator has no idea where he was going , his compass , radio was damaged, so after some time he saw a black aero plane and the pilot inside that had wave his hands showing that follow the black plane. So he the narrator had no any way to get out from the dark storm + his old Dakota had less fuel left, so he followed that aero plane. And atlast he got out from that storm, but when he looked back to see the plane that helped him to escape, was gone. He thought that it was a super natural thing, he also believed that it was someone who was sented by god or got himself.
