Answer:
Main reasons being- survival, growth and reproduction
Plants store their foods for the future use of their own and also for the future generations(until they are able to photosynthesize and make their own food).
In the summers, there is more sunlight. So, the plants photosynthesize more and make more food. But, As the photosynthesis product(the foods) are precious for the plants, they can not afford to waste it. So, they store it for using it in winter(when there is relatively less sunlight and a low rate of photosynthesis).
Even when the plants have extra food after that, they store it in the seeds for the future generations to come.
