Rate of diffusion in gases is high because they have large inter-molecular space and they posses more kinetic energy than liquids and gases.


Diffusion means spreading out and intermixing of particles from one substance to another substances due to movement of particles.
Particles of matter move from a region of higher concentration region to a lower concentration region till uniform distribution is attained.
Diffusion occurs in Solids, liquids and gases .

Example:
We can smell the perfume sitting several meters away due to diffusion in gases.
