and according to the reaction of oxygen ..
metal react with oxygen to form metallic oxide which is basic in nature.while non metal react to form metallic oxide which is basic in nature...
reaction with acid...
metal react with acid and formed salt and hydrogen gas whereas non metal donot react with acid
reaction with base...
metal react with base to form salt and hydrogen whereas non metal react with base to form salt and water.
