❇ x - y = 2 -------> x = 2 + y (2)
❇❇Substituting the value of x from (2) to (1)
❇3 ( 2 + y ) + 2y = 17
❇ 6 + 3y +2y = 17
❇ 6 + 5y = 17
❇ 5y = 11
❇y = 11/5 ✔
❇❇Substitute the value of y in (2)
❇x = 2 + y = 2 + 11/5 = 21/5 ✔
Hence the answer is
x = 21/5 and y = 11/5 ✔
