First assume x-4 = y.
Now, Equation is 3y^2-5y= 12.
By solving the above equation using quadratic formula you will get 3 and -8/6.

Now, We know that
y = x-4
and putting the values 3 and -8/6 in place of y,
you will get 7 and 8/3 as the roots respectively.

3(x^2-16) -5x +20 =12
3x^2 -48 -5x =12-20
3x^2 -5x = -8+48
3x^2-5x =40
3x^2-5x-40=0
