the soln is....

3x+5y=1.....1

5x+6y=4........2

subtract eqn 2 from 1

5x+6y=4

3x+5y=1

2x=5

x=5/2

substitute in eqn 1

3x+5y=1

3(5/2) +5y=1

15+5y=2

5y=-13

y=-13/5
