if you want values of x and y then,

3x+5y=26                                eqn 1

x+5y=22                                    eqn 2

multiply eqn 2 with 3

we get

3x+15y=66                                eqn 3

substract eqn 3 - eqn 1

we get after substraction

10y=40

y=4

x+5*4=22

x=2

therefore X=2 Y=4

Answer:

Here we should find the value of x and y using the given two equations.

Final Answer: x=2 and y=4

Step-by-step explanation:

From the given question,

  • 3x+5y is equal to 263x+5y=26 --------------(1)
  • x+5y  is equal to 22 ⇒  x+5y=22  --------------(2)
  • Now Subtract equation(1) and equation(2).Then we will get the following equation.That is,
  • During subtraction we should change the sign of equation(2).So that,
  • Equ(1)-Equ(2) ⇒  2x=4

                                     x=\frac{4}{2}

                                     x=2

  • Now apply the value of x into equation(2). Then we can get the value of y.
  • Equ(2) ⇒      x+5y=22

                             2+5y=22

                                   5y=22-2=20

                                     y=\frac{20}{5}

                                     y=4

  • Final Answer: x=2 and y=4
