let the age of fathe be x and the age of his don be y then,
x-3=7(y-3)
x-3=7y-21
x-7y=-18       ...i
also, x=5y    ...ii
then puttinng the value of x in (i) we get,
5y-7y=-18
-2y=-18
minus sign cancels out
y=18/2
y=9
hence son's age id 9 and by (ii) we know thw x=5(9)
then x=45 
answer is son's age 9 and his father's age is 45
