Subject: Attacks on old people living alone
Sir:
I am extremely disturbed about the attacks on old people living alone. Yesterday a heinous crime was committed on an old couple living alone in our colony. The unscrupulous miscreants broke into the house and robbed the wretched couple at gunpoint. What is lamentable is the fact that the robbers beat them mercilessly after tying and gagging them. Of late there have been many cases of crime against them. They are being targeted by robbers and thieves.
Through the channels of your esteemed daily I appeal to the concerned authorities to look into the matter and take prompt action in providing safety measures to not only our colony but throughout the city. It is highly regrettable that the law and order along with the morals of people have been deteriorated to such an extent that even the elderly are not safe. I also appeal to the old people to take safety measures such as not opening the door to the strangers; pressing the alarm button in case of emergency; and calling the police even on suspicion. Kindly give enough space to my views in your esteemed daily.
