Answer :-

♦ As question says that

If 30 grams of Carbon is burnt in air then how much Carbon-dioxide is produced ?

♦ Then from Law of conservation of mass

♦ Which States that

• Mass can never be destroyed and created in a chemical reaction .

♦ And from Law of constant proportion

♦ Which states that

• The ratio of mass of of elements in a molecule is constant.

♦ We can say that In the Carbon-dioxide produced the mass of carbon dioxide will be 30 g

♦ Then we have to find out the ratio of mass of carbon : oxygen in CO_2

♦ As mass of one atom of

• Carbon = 12 amu

• Oxygen = 16 amu

♦ Then Ratio of Mass

= 12 : 16(2)

= 12 : 32

= 3 : 8

♦ Now as we have got the ratio

>> Let the common divisor of the ratio be "x"

♦Then from above we can say that

3x = 30 g

 \implies x = \dfrac{30}{3}

 \implies x = 10

♦ So as the mass of Oxygen

= 8x

= 8 (10)

= 80 g

♦ Then the mass of Carbon-dioxide Produced

= Mass of Carbon + Mass of Oxygen

= 30 g + 80 g

= 110 g

♦ So  CO_2 (gas) Produced = 110g
