The ratio of 30 litres and 24 litres is 5 : 4

Given :

The quantities 30 litres and 24 litres

To find :

The ratio

Concept :

Ratio : Ratio means comparing of two quantities

The ratio of a number a to another number b ( where b ≠ 0) is a fraction a/b and it is written a : b , the first term a is called antecedent and the second term is called consequent

Solution :

Step 1 of 3 :

Write down the given quantities

The quantities are 30 litres and 24 litres

Step 2 of 3 :

Find HCF of 30 and 24

30 = 2 × 3 × 5

24 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 3

HCF of 30 and 24

= 2 × 3

= 6

Step 3 of 3 :

Find the ratio

Hence the required ratio

= 30 : 24

\displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{30}{24}   }

\displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{30 \div 6}{24 \div 6}   }

\displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{5}{4}   }
