Given:

Amount spent on 30 oranges and 75 apples=Rs.510

Price per apple=Rs.2

To find:

The average price of the orange

Solution:

The average price of the orange was Rs.12.

The total amount spent on buying oranges and apples is equal to the product of the quantity and price per piece.

The oranges' average price is the price per orange.

Let the price per orange be Rs.X.

Amount spent=number of oranges×price per orange+number of apples×price per apple

Using the values,

510=30×X+75×2

510=30X+150

510-150=30X

360=30X

12=X

Orange's average price=Rs.12

Therefore, the average price of the orange was Rs.12.
