Step-by-step explanation:

CASE 1(FROM P TO Q)

3 km uphill

8 km level ground

6 km downhill

time = 3 + 8 + 1 hr

= 12 hr

CASE 2 (FROM Q TO P)

6 km uphill

8 km level ground

3 km downhill

time = 6 + 8 + 0.5 hr

= 14.5 hr

Therefore, total time = 12 + 14.5 hr

= 26.5hr
