television is a modern day technology, which entertains our eyes and ears, but at the same time, spoils us. inappropriate advertisements, movies and serials are often showed including violence, which is not good for growing minds. it also makes us lazy and consumes our precious time. it emits ultraviolet rays which is harmful to our eyes. also, people who watch television and have their meals suffer from obesity because we are concentrating on the television, not on the food. due to this the food we eat does not get digested, and hence we are tempted to eating more.

Television is one of the most important inventions of 20th century. Today it is as popular as radio, television is a good and healthy source of both entertainment and education. The word seems to have become small because of television. We can see with our eyes the event that take place hundreds and thousands of kilometres away from us television is a powerful medium of mass communication.

Television started in India in September 1959, the first programs presented on television where meant for schools and rural areas. The television set up by the delinked from the all India radio in April, 1976. The television setup was called Doordarshan.
