Let,

30x+8y-9=0 ____(1)

140x-36y-97=0____(2), be two eqations

By, (1)*36 & (2)*8

We have,

(1) becomes 1080x+288y-324=0 ____(a)

(2) becomes 1120x-288y-776=0 _____(b)

Now by adding (a) and (b)

1080x+288y-324=0 ____(a) +1120x-288y-776=0 _____(b)

______________________________

2200x-1100=0

ie, x = 1100/2200

x = 1/2 or 0.5

By substituting x=1/2 in eq (a)

We have,

1080(1/2)+288y-324=0

540+288y-324 =0

288y+216=0

y=-(216/288)

y=-(3/4) or - 0.75

Hence, x=0.5 and y=0.75
