The median of the given data is 33.

Step-by-step explanation:

The given data:

31, 37, 35, 38, 42, 23, 17, 18, 35, 25, 35, 29

To find, the median of the following data = ?

Arrange the following data in ascending order:

17, 18, 23, 25, 29, 31, 35, 35, 35, 37, 38 and 42

Here, n = 12

We know that,

Median = \dfrac{\dfrac{n}{2}th term+(\dfrac{n}{2}+1)th term }{2}

= \dfrac{\dfrac{12}{2}th term+(\dfrac{12}{2}+1)th term }{2}

= \dfrac{6th term+(6+1)th term }{2}

6th term = 31 and 7th term = 35

= \dfrac{31+35}{2}

= \dfrac{66}{2}

= 33

∴ The median of the given data = 33

Thus, the median of the given data is 33.
